Monty Python の予言『建築家コント』

第二シリーズ第四エピソードの『建築家コント (The Architect Skech)』, 1970．ディビングリー街近くに予定されている居住棟 (高層住宅) 建築設計のプレゼンを聞いている二人の紳士 (TJ & MP)．一番手は I & M 設計のウィギン氏 (JC)．十二階建てジョージ王朝スタイル屠殺場 (畜殺場)．放り出されて二番手は W & D 設計のリーヴィ氏 (EI)．二八階建て中央ピラー方式鉄筋コンクリート片持ち梁床．

Mr. Leavey: ... Quite frankly, I think the central pillar system may need strengthening a bit. (「正直言って，この予算では強度が欠けます」 (EI))

City Gent #2: Isn't that going to put the cost up? (「コストを上げろと？」 (TJ))

Mr. Leavey: Uh, it might.

City Gent #2: Well, I don't know whether I'd worry about strengthening that much. After all, they're not meant to be luxury flats. Huh. (「強度なんて問題じゃない．どうせ貧乏人の住宅だ」)

City Gent #1: No, I quite agree. I mean, providing the tenants are of light build and relatively sedentary and, uhh,(er instead) given a spot of good weather, I think we're on to a winner here. (「買う方だって安い方がいい．見てくれもいい．これに決定だ」)

シャレにならん．今現在の日本ではブラック過ぎる．

ちなみに， "Peter Gunn" のテーマに乗ってカッチョ佳く登場するはエエがいっつも間に合わない "The Bishop" が収められているのもこのエピソード．司教が引き連れている四人の牧師は黒スーツに黒サングラス．黒帽子こそ被ってないが "Blues Brothers" (ということはつまり，練馬大根ブラザーズ) の原型とされている．
